Commercial Time!

We interrupt this program to bring you a special announcement...

Okay... so my main reason for creating a blog was to "show off" what I can do/like to create. If you are interested, please contact me through my Facebook page (link below). If you click INFO on my Facebook page it will have all the details (shipping, etc).
All the patterns I have used are free, and I don't believe in being selfish, so if I have a link to a pattern of something I created, I will post it below the picture :)

Here is my profile pic on my Facebook page... and the link http://www.facebook.com/pages/Accents-by-Amanda/131869853536152

I enjoy creating all kinds of things. Most recently, it's been crocheted hats. Here is a set that I made for a friend for a photo shoot. You can pick 2 colors... and I charge $25/set.
Here is the pattern for the diaper cover: http://cbraden7.blogspot.com/2011/08/diaper-cover-pattern.html

Here is a newborn size hat I made. I love the puffy stitch! I call this my Simple Flower Hat. I sell these style of hats for $10.

The baby bonnet! I made this for a friend. I charge $8.

One of my favorites... the Dino hat! I charge $15 for this one (I typically don't add the spots).
I don't have a link the the earflap hat, as it's one that I have adjusted for my use, and I don't have it written down (someday), but here is the pattern for the dino spikes:

Another earflap hat... this one if the Mohawk! I charge $15 for this... and here is how to do the mohawk: http://crazysockscrochet.blogspot.com/2011/01/mohawk-hat-tutorial.html

Another earflap. This is my flower ear flap hat. It's $15. The flower pattern is above, it's the same flower that I use for my Simple Flower Hat.

I hope you enjoyed! I have more exampled of hats I've made on my Facebook page. Please browse, become a fan (I like to do giveaways!), and if you have any questions, please let me know! :)

We now take you back to your normally scheduled program..

Bath Paint and Pinterest

First things first... I thought it would be fun to make my kids some bath paint tonight. They had a BLAST! Unfortunately, I only have 2 colors of food coloring, so we'll have to get more next time we go to the store.
Here's what I did... (I apologize... I took pics with my phone and my kitchen doesn't have much light)

First, you take 1 cup of clear-ish baby wash/soap, 4 Tblsp of cornstarch, and some food coloring.
You mix the first two ingredients together...

Then you add in some food coloring... I added 3 or 4 drops to make a stronger color.

I had some finger paint containers that were empty... so i just rinsed them out and poured them in. I gave my kiddos a thicker paintbrush and their "paint" and let them have a great time. I didn't see any color left on my tub after we rinsed it off. What fun... and so simple! All these ingredients I have on hand. :)
A big thank you to http://www.meetthedubiens.com/2010/11/bubble-bath-paint.html who I got the idea from!

Now onto my second thought for today... Pinterest. Are you on Pinterest? I enjoy Pinterest, but I'm not 'heavily' into it as some people I know. My mom has told me that she could spend the day just looking at all the cool stuff on there. I try to just stick with what my friends have posted.
I got to thinking the past couple days about how people are 'following' me. Now, I don't think its bad... I take it as sort of a compliment, that people enjoy my taste on a specific board and want to 'copy' me. I find it a bit exciting to see in my email that people are 'repinning' what I've posted. :)

Now, I've been trying to add the Pinterest button on here, as well as a counter, but I just can't figure it out. I know it can't be that hard as lost of other blogs have done it... but I just don't know how. Any thoughts?

Well, it's time for bed for the kiddos. We have a early day tomorrow. Until we meet again...

Name Monsters... and is that a bottle of jelly in the bathroom?

Went into the main floor bathroom this afternoon... and closed the door. Behind the door sat a bottle of lotion, body spray, and a squeezable bottle of grape jelly. Asked my kids who took jelly into the bathroom, but no one confessed. I'm a bit confused. Wonder what will be in my bathroom tomorrow...

On another note... today we made Name Monsters! I remember doing this in elementary school, but I think we made them into aliens. I love simple activities that my kiddos can enjoy!

First, we picked out the color of construction paper we wanted. Then we folded it in half (it's very important to do that first!!!). Then take some paint (I had little bottles of acrylic paint... you can put a glue bottle lid on it, and it makes it easy to write with!) and write you name on half the paper.

Here's Em... my 6 year old, writing her name with the paint. I didn't realize what a challenge it would be to take pictures and help the kids out with the paint!

After you write you name on the half, you fold it in half and gently press down. Then you open it, and let it dry.
Here are the kiddos... decorating their "monsters". After it dries, you have to decide which end you want to be the "head".

And the finished product! This was my Name Monster. I did this with ages 10 months thru 6 years... you just have to adjust some things for them. For example, my 6 and 5 year old wrote their own name with the paint and folded it. My 3 year old can only write her A in her name, so she wrote a big A on hers. My 18 month old, and the 10 month old I watch I wrote their names for them, but they got to decorate their monsters with color crayons. It was fun seeing what their imaginations came up with!
Well, hope you enjoy! We do a lot of activities at my house, so I'm hoping to put lots of tutorials on this blog. It seems we are always doing something! :)
Until tomorrow...

Painting Our Kids' Rooms... so far

Good morning!
So, I had actually written this post on my phone, and went to publish it, and a message popped up that said "capcha needed". Great. So I searched and searched and no where was there somewhere for me to type the capcha. I figured it must have something to do with the fact I was trying to upload a picture with the post. So, I copied what I had, and opened a new post and pasted... then went to publish. Nope. Still need a capcha. And there is no help or anything as an option on this app... so I guess I'll try a different one.
Anyways, I wanted to post what my kids' rooms look like this far. We are in the process of moving around our 4 kiddos.
We have 4 rooms in our house. It used to be... Our room, Em (my 6 year old daughter) and Little Man (my 18 month old son) shared a room, Bug (my 5 year old daughter), and Sleeping Beauty (my 3 year old daughter) shared a room, then a craft/toy/spare room. Now, Em will have her own room, Bug will have hers, and Sleeping Beauty and Little Man will share.
We thought it would be fun to make the rooms more 'theirs'. Em's room was first. She wanted Angry Birds. :) So here is what we came up with:

This is one of her walls. Here is some more pictures of her room:

Close up of the pigs and their castle.

One this wall will be her name, in the Angry Bird font. Also, we will put a Bible verse here. I'm thinking the verse that says to be slow getting angry... fitting verse for a room of Angry Birds :)

Em wanted to make her own 'poster' of the lovebirds for her room... so Mark (my husband) figured why not just draw it on her wall.

A close up of the Angry Birds and their sling shot. My amazing husband freehanded all the birds and pigs. I painted the grass, the clouds and the sun!

Here is the sun I painted. I was excited by how it turned out. :)

Anyway, so that is Em's room. Total cost was maybe $30. We had a $7 rebate to Menards, which helped with buying the blue wall paint. Then we bought the little bottles of paint from Michaels, I think, along with the little paintbrushes. Oh, and the paint pens! Couldn't do the details without those!

This weekend, we spent time painting the walls in what will be Little Man and Sleeping Beauty's room. We bought the paint about a month after we moved in, and its just been sitting in our attic. It's a nice green... lighter than a celery green, I think. It will have a frog theme when we are done. Sunday, I worked in Bug's room. Her room has all ready been painted... we did that room not long after we moved in. Bug is a fan of Spiderman. BIG fan. So, instead of painting over her walls, I just 'added'.
Here is what I did:

I freehanded the Spider, along with the verse. I thought this was a fitting verse for Spiderman :)
Total cost: $0. I used leftovers from the Angry Bird room.

Hopefully, this weekend, we will have majority of the frog room done, and the rest of the other two rooms done.

:)

There's an app for that...

I've been looking through the Android market and think i may have found an app to post from my phone. This is my test post so i guess we'll see. Now im really of to bed! :)

Welcome!

Welcome to my Blog! I'm excited to start posting.
Be patient with me as I try to figure all this stuff out.
Hope you enjoy :)
